Dear Parent,

Indian River School District is working with Project DelAWARE, which is a partnership between the Delaware Department of Education (DOE) and the Division of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services in the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and Families (DSCYF). Our purpose is to help students who are experiencing life stressors, may be having difficulty in school or at home and may be experiencing problems like poor concentration, following the rules, feeling sad or feeling anxiety.  In some cases, students may not be showing problems but because they have seen or heard upsetting things, possible traumatic situations, they might be experiencing problems now or could experience problems in the future. If your child is having any of these difficulties, Project DelAWARE might be able to help!

 

You can speak to a Project DelAWARE Mental Health Professional or Community Project Manager who can assess whether or not your child is experiencing life stressors in which they could benefit from accessing one of the mental health services or resources below.

Project DelAWARE is offering the following services over the summer months through Children and Families First:

 

Group Opportunities:

 

  • A 5 week Social-Emotional Skills Group for students who are in need of learning coping skills to deal with life stressors (30-45 minute groups) accessed via internet or telephone if internet service is not available
  • Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools Group (CBITS/Bounce Back) for students who are dealing with a specific trauma (10 weeks) accessed via internet or telephone if internet service is not available
  • Better U for students who are dealing with a specific trauma (3 week condensed version of CBITS/Bounce Back Groups) - accessed via internet or telephone if internet service is not available

     

    Individual and Family Therapy:

     

  • Individual therapeutic support through Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for students who are dealing with a specific trauma (up to 16 weeks) accessed via internet or telephone if internet service is not available
  • Therapeutic Case Management -Functional Family Therapy (TCM-FFT) for families who are experiencing conflict in the home and family (birth through 18; 12-14 sessions) – accessed via internet,

in-home services might be available
